Danone Nations Cup

Peter Crouch

Official UK Ambassador for the 2007 Danone Nations Cup

"I'm very happy and honoured that Danone have asked me to be their UK Ambassador for the 2007 Danone Nations Cup. This global tournament has received great support from other footballers around the world such as Zidane, Messi, Ronaldinho, Philip Lahm and I am proud to be linked with such names.

I feel that a tournament of this size and calibre gives children a fantastic opportunity and can help teach them about teamwork and what it is like to play football on a big stage. Looking at the International Final in Lyon, it really doesn't get much bigger than playing in a Champions league stadium in front of 32,000 people.

I'd like to think that the children will continue to play football, or sport in general, and understand the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and eating the right foods. It is certainly important for the England stars of tomorrow to understand this and hopefully events such as the Danone Nations Cup will give them the experience and passion to want to continue to a higher level.

I also liked the fact that the teams will be mixing with other children from around the world and learning about new cultures and nationalities. This event is certainly something I would have loved to have taken part in when I was 10 or 12. I wish all of the UK children involved the very best of luck and I hope that they have a great time and enjoy the football."
